The HTC Desire 500, announced two weeks ago in Taiwan, is being re-announced by HTC. Why? The phone is coming to Europe. According to Sascha Pallenberg, who is a German journalist based in Taiwan that I trust when it comes to providing accurate info, the device is going to cost 280 EUR.
So what makes the Desire 500 special? Nothing. It has a 4.3 inch 800 x 480 pixel resolution screen, a quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, 8 megapixel camera, and it just looks incredibly odd. For 280 EUR, you can do a lot better. Here in Finland, a country that is by no means cheap, the Galaxy Express is the same price. It has the same screen resolution, dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, and most importantly: 4G LTE. Had the Desire 500 been 199 EUR, I would’ve applauded the company, but this is too much.
