HTC has launched too many smartphones this year, and it looks like the company could squeeze in just one more device before 2015 comes to a close. HTC has started teasing the announcement of a new smartphone on Christmas eve (December 24).  HTC is calling it a “superior Christmas gift”, and the X in the teaser suggests we will see the Taiwanese OEM take the wraps off the One X9. The One X9 took a few rounds of the rumor mill only for HTC to focus all its efforts on the One A9, but a certification by Chinese authority TENAA last month had confirmed that the One X9 was still on the cards. According to TENAA, the One X9 will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display, an octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, a 3,000 mAh battery, and 16GB of expandable internal storage. Leaked images suggest the One X9 will bring back the BoomSound speakers HTC took away with the One A9, though according to the TENAA listing the X9 will fall behind in the software department by sporting Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box. Of course, it’s possible HTC will have upgraded the software to Android 6.0 Marshmallow by the time the X9 hits the market (one can hope). It’s still unclear if the One X9 will even be announced tomorrow, but it won’t be long before we find out about HTC’s upcoming Christmas gift.
