At long last, we finally have a date for the unveiling of one of the most leaked devices in the mobile industry’s history, the HTC One Max. The company is sending out invitations to various Asian media outlets for an event scheduled to take place on October 15th in China. According to The Wall Street Journal, who typically doesn’t publish rumors until they’re 99% sure they’re accurate, we’re guaranteed to see the One Max at this event, and it’s confirmed that it will indeed have a fingerprint scanner like the latest iPhone.
What about the rest of the device? If you’ve seen a One, then you pretty much know exactly what the One Max will look like. In much the same way that people made fun of Samsung for releasing a 6.3 inch version of the Galaxy S4 that was called the Galaxy Mega, the One Max is basically a 5.9 inch version of the now six month old One. No word as to upgraded internals, and some rumors even suggest the One Max will have a Snapdragon S4 Pro instead of a Snapdragon 600, but either way, we’ll find out everything we need to know in just one week. How long until the One Max reaches the United States? We’ve already seen images of the Verizon variant floating around, so I’d be surprised if it wasn’t on sale in the US by mid-November. Expect it to be priced like all other big phones, $299 with a two year contract. Personally, I’d say you should get the Note 3 instead, but I know some of you prefer HTC’s quality.
