HTC has been constantly updating the One with new software/Android updates ever since it released the handset early last year. It also became more transparent about how the update process works and provided regular updates to users about the software update of their device. When Google released Android 4.4.2 KitKat last year in November, HTC promised that it would update the carrier versions of the One in the United States to KitKat within 90 days. With the deadline fast approaching, the company has provided an update about the status of the KitKat OTA. According to HTC’s software update roadmap page, the KitKat update for the T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint HTC One is under “Certification”.
After the build has passed HTC’s Q&A testing, it would be sent to carriers, who will conduct their own tests before providing their certification. After this, HTC will also need to get the neccessary certificates from regulatory bodies and Google before it can start pushing out the update to One owners in the States. If the build is bug free, users can expect the roll-out to begin within the next couple of weeks. If not, its possible that the company will miss its 90 day deadline of updating the carrier versions of the One to KitKat in the U.S.A. H/t – Droid Life
