There are a lot of updates, both major small, to hit Android phones on all the carriers.   Each week we gather up all the major software updates for the biggest devices; phones tablets on U.S. carriers ( unlocked phones, of course), wearables, round them all up so you don’t miss a thing. Making sure your device installs the latest software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features, close security holes, squash those pesky bugs.

HTC One M8: December 5th is a happy day if you have the latest pure- edition of the One M8.  It jumps up to Android 5.0.1, the latest build which fixes a lock-screen bug. HTC One M7: The last-generation HTC-built flagship isn’t getting left out, as it’s also receiving the most recent Android build of 5.0.1. Xperia Z Ultra: Sony announced that llipop all of its Material Design goodness is coming in an over-the-air update. The blog entry didn’t say a specific timeframe, only that it was coming “soon.”

Nexus 9 (-Fi): fixed a botched OTA of Android 5.0.1, so if you were trying to download X21 instead look for X21R. You can also grab the factory images directly from .

Moto X: Motorola is leading the pack at pushing out llipop, the Moto X is next on Big Red. Be on the lookout for an over-the-air update that bumps up the device to Android 5.0 the latest version of Motorola’s custom software. Galaxy S4: This software patch is supposed to fix an “intermittent power cycle issue” solve some V connectivity problems. ok for update KOT49H.I545VRUFNK1, especially if your phone has been acting wonky. Galaxy Note 3: No, it’s not llipop, but at least you’re getting the latest version of KitKat at 4.4.4. The N900VVRUDN update also improve E connectivity, call clarity, fixes to SMS V, along with a Bluetooth bug fix. Not surprisingly, there’s also some more Samsung software, like the latest edition of its Knox security suite. G Vista: Update VS88011B adds a movable pop-up during phone conversations with the caller’s information, which could be useful if you happen to answer the phone without looking at who is contacting you (not recommended). You can also now take a picture by dragging the camera button to the left on the lock screen.

Galaxy S5: A very focused update here – G900TUVU1CNK2 brings Chinese language support. Galaxy Note 4: Different name, same update. N910TUVU1ANK4 also brings support for the language of the world’s most populous country. Galaxy Note 3: This update, N900TUVUDNK3, is a different type of language upgrade. You get support for Gogo in-flight texting, so even flying in a metal tube high above the Earth won’t keep you out of touch. T-Mobile’s support docs say this is coming to the Note 4 also at some point.

Sprint

Galaxy S5: know that Samsung is working on llipop for the GS5, but this update to Android 4.4.4 will have to tide you over until then. It brings an icon for HD voice, support for international -Fi calling, the always-exciting security fixes.
