Not too long ago, HTC unveiled the One A9, a handset that many believed would be a new high-end handset that would trump the manufacturer’s previous attempt, the One M9. However, the rumors, and eventually the official announcement, would paint the One A9 as a mid-range device with some respectable specifications under the hood, but ultimately far from a high-end flagship. Now that the One A9 is official, eyeballs are already seeking out what’s next, and according to an image of a new device with HTC’s branding, that could be the X9. Unfortunately, while the Rumor Mill has suggested the X9 could boast some impressive high-end features, it seems that won’t actually be the case. Thanks to serial HTC leaker LlabTooFer, many of the rumors that have painted the upcoming X9 as a new flagship device aren’t accurate. Specifically, the device won’t feature a Snapdragon 820 processor, it won’t have 3GB of 4GB of RAM, and there won’t be a 23-megapixel camera on the back. It won’t have a 1440p display, either. As far as what’s right? It turns out the One X9 will feature a 4MP UltraPixel camera on the front, and the device will launch sometime in the first part of 2016. According to LlabTooFer, it will launch two to three months before HTC’s true next flagship, the One M10, which is also scheduled for the first half of 2016. The X9 will apparently be positioned lower than the One A9, so this could be a handset that’s geared towards emerging markets. Are you already looking forward to seeing what HTC has in store for the One M10?
