HTC teased recently that it has a “BIG announcement” coming on Wednesday, March 18, but it looks like it might not be about a U.S. release for the One M9 after all. The announcement on Wednesday will be live streamed, and HTC has given it a title: “Uh-oh.” Now, before the event kicks off, details regarding HTC’s upcoming announcement have been revealed. According to a new report, HTC will be launching a new device protection program, called Uh-oh, that will include one full year of device protection for your HTC-branded handset. That means the plan will cover broken glass, even switching carriers. Water damage is covered, too. This would apparently either be replacing HTC’s “Advantage,” which covers one screen replacement (but is only available for six months after purchase), or perhaps be another tier of protection. The Uh-oh program will also include a trade-in offer for older HTC devices to get a newer One handset, with the program allegedly offering up to $100 towards that end. Details on this bit are light, though. The most interesting part of the program could be the fact owners can switch carriers without losing, or paying more, for that coverage.
