At least that is what indicates the tests of the DxOMark, that analyzes the cameras of the main smartphones of the market. In the latest ranking of the site, the HTC U12+ scored 103 points, second only to the Huawei P20 Pro (109 points), but getting ahead of the “normal” P20 (102). Following are the Galaxy S9+ (99), Pixel 2 (98) and iPhone X (97). One of the rear cameras has 12 megapixels and wide-angle lens with f/1.75 aperture. The other comes with 16 megapixels, f/2.6 aperture and 2x optical zoom. Bokeh (blurry background) effect, high-speed autofocus and HDR are among the available features that have counted heavily for punctuation. DxOMark highlights the ability of the HTC U12+ to record very satisfactory images in low light conditions, displaying good colour saturation while not overstating in the shadow areas, nor generating excessive noise. It is common for autofocus to take longer in low light conditions, but that was not the case here.

Of course, the HTC U12+ is not just about the cameras. The device promises to look good in overall performance with its Snapdragon 845 chip with 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage (with the 128GB option in Canada, China and the United States), 3500 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and two 8-megapixel cameras at the front.

The 6-inch screen has a Super LCD panel, resolution of 2880 × 1440 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 standard support, and no notch and not only that even there is no conventional headphone jack. Moreover, the operating system, as expected, is Android 8.0 Oreo. The HTC U12+ is already pre-sold in the United States with a suggested retail price of $799 for the 64GB version and $849 for the 128GB version. So, what do you think about this?
