Japan carrier KDDI today unveiled its summer lineup of smartphones, which includes a new high-end flagship phone from HTC — the J Butterfly. The J Butterfly comes with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, LTE Cat. 6 connectivity, a 13MP selfie camera, a 20.2MP rear camera along with a secondary depth sensor located in the center of the handset for “Duo” effects. Other specs of the handset include 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 2,700mAh sealed battery.

The most interesting aspect of the J Butterfly though, is its design. While the handset is made of polycarbonate plastic and features a design that is reminiscent of the One M8 and M9, the front-facing BoomSound speaker on the top is integrated between the bezels that makes the device more compact. This is similar to how HTC has integrated its BoomSound speakers on its mid-range flagship devices like the Desire Eye and the Desire 826. Additionally, the handset has an IP55/57 rating that makes it water and dust resistant. The J Butterfly will be making its way to Japan in early June this year in red, white and indigo blue colors.
