According to the data collected and estimated by analyst firm Canalys, Xiaomi is no longer the biggest smartphone OEM in China. Instead, it lost the title in Q3, 2015 to another Chinese OEM: Huawei. This is the first time that Huawei has managed to grab the number 1 position in the Chinese smartphone market. Co-incidentally, it comes at a time when the company has just released its first Nexus handset in collaboration with Google — the Nexus 6P — which will surely get the whole world to sit up and take notice of its devices. Huawei posted a 81 percent growth on a year-on-year basis in its shipment to achieve this feat, while Xiaomi’s shipment shrunk during the same period. The report from the firm also states that Xiaomi is “under tremendous pressure” to reach its target of selling 80 million smartphones across the globe. The launch of the Huawei-made Google Nexus 6P will further help Huawei in reaching its shipment target of 100 million devices by the end of this year. It will also likely have a positive effect on the sale of its other devices in China, as well as in other countries where they are sold.
