Since both smartphones have the same Kirin 980 SoC, performance is expected to be similar. You can find more detailed information about the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro here.

Display

Let’s begin with the display, the part of the phone that you interact with the most. The P30 has a 6.1-inch flat OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and slightly thicker bezels all along the display. The P30 Pro on the other hand sports a 6.47-inch Full HD+ curved OLED panel, similar to the one found on the Mate 20 Pro or Samsung’s flagship smartphones. Both phones opt for a dewdrop notch so not much to differentiate there.

RAM and Storage

The RAM on the P30 is 6GB accompanied by 128GB of onboard storage. The P30 Pro, on the other hand, comes with 8GB of RAM along with 3 storage variants – 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. Both phones have support for expandable storage.

Camera

The P30 has a triple camera setup on the back with a 40MP primary lens and an aperture of f/1.8. The second camera is a 16MP ultra-wide lens and the third camera is a 3X optical telephoto lens for up to 30X digital zoom which is crazy. The P30 can reach an ISO level of 204800.

The P30 Pro has the same primary lens but with a wider aperture of f/1.6 accompanied by an 8MP periscope telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom and an insane 50X digital zoom. The fourth camera which is not present on the normal P30 is a TOF or Time of Flight camera to help with 3D recognition and separation of background. The P30 Pro can reach an ISO level of 409600. The front camera on both phones remains the same at 32MP.

Battery and Charging

The Huawei P30 has a 3,650mAh battery with Super Charge capabilities of up to 25W, while the P30 Pro has a mammoth 4,200mAh battery just like the Mate 20 Pro, with 40W Super Charge. Both phones have support for wireless charging at 15W and also have the ability to reverse charge wirelessly.

Miscellaneous

The Huawei P30 has a physical earpiece whereas the P30 Pro does away with one in favor of acoustics being casted through the screen using vibrations. The P30 also has a headphone jack while the P30 Pro does not. Since there’s one less port, the P30 Pro is IP68 water resistant while the P30 is just IP53 splash resistant.

Pricing

The Huawei P30 will go on sale for 799 Euros while the P30 Pro will start at 999 Euros for the base variant and will go all the way up to 1249 Euros. Buy Huawei P30 Pro
