The Lenovo K8 Note goes on sale in India from tonight. For the price that the handset commands, Lenovo has managed to fill it to the brim with top notch specifications. This includes a 10-core MediaTek Helio X23 chipset, 4GB RAM, and a dual-camera setup at the rear. More interestingly though, the Lenovo K8 Note is certified by splash-proof by the company. So, does that mean the K8 Note is water-resistant?

Not really. The Lenovo K8 Note does not have an IP5x/6x certification that’d make it water-resistant. Instead, it is only rated as splash resistant. This means that if you accidentally spill a glass of water on the phone, it should emerge unscathed from it. However, if you dunk the phone in a bucket of water or accidentally drop in in a swimming pool, the chances of it surviving the ordeal are pretty much nil. The splash resistant certification means that you can use the K8 Note while it is raining heavily without worrying about any kind of water damage. However, do remember that even this splash resistant rating is not permanent and it can decrease over time due to wear and tear. Additionally, Lenovo is not going to honor the warranty of the device if there is any kind of water damage. So, don’t try to push the splash resistant rating of the phone too far else you might just end up without one. Don’t be disappointed that the Lenovo K8 Note is not water-resistant though. Remember that all other phones in this price range even lack splash resistance so Lenovo has actually gone over and above the competition to include this feature on the K8 Note.
