HTC’s strategy is a puzzling one. They announce a flagship phone once a year, don’t spend enough marketing it, and then spent the next 12 months trickling out a bunch of boring midrange and low-end devices that almost never get sold outside Asia. With that in the back of your mind, let’s take a look at one of their upcoming devices: the Z3.
— @evleaks (@evleaks) August 29, 2013 Judging by the leaked photos, which come from China (of course), the back of the phone looks exactly like the One S. For those who don’t remember the One S, it was one of HTC’s most beautiful phones. Unfortunately, no one bought it because it was overpriced. That and the One X was a “better” phone, at least in terms of specs. Flipping things over to the front of the device, the images aren’t super clean, but the phone looks like a less aggressive plastic version of the One.
Here’s where things get weird, the Z3’s guts: 4.3 inch 800 by 480 pixel resolution screen, dual-core 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera, and only 512 MB of RAM. All that is supposed to come in at around $215. Considering you can get a Nexus 4 for that price, that hurts, but let’s see if anything changes between this leak and the official announcement.
