Two weeks ago, rumors started pouring out of Taiwan about a limited edition Hello Kitty version of HTC’s current (in my honest opinion) flagship phone, the Butterfly s. Yesterday, the company began sending local media invitations to an event scheduled on September 2nd that features a giant Hello Kitty logo. Today, an image of the promotional material of that device has finally leaked.

Before I get to the Hello Kitty phenomenon, let me explain why I think the Butterfly s is HTC’s best smartphone currently on the market. Like the Galaxy S4, it has a 5 inch 1080p screen. Like the Galaxy S4, it has a 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and 2 GB of RAM. Like the Galaxy S4, it has a microSD card slot. All of these traits are improvements compared to the One. And then you get get to the battery: 3,200 mAh. Mental. The only bad thing about the Butterfly s is the camera. Same 4 megapixel sensor as found in the One, but without optical image stabilization. So back to the Hello Kitty portion of this article. From this one leaked image, it looks like the back of the phone will be white and feature a pink drawing of the cat. The default wallpaper will also be Hello Kitty themed. It also looks like Blink Feed is disabled by default, which is a huge plus.
