Ever since the first rumor started, it was certain that the HTC One M8 would be followed by a miniature version, which is expected to be called the HTC One mini 2. We’ve seen its specs, press images, and pretty much learned all about it except its price. Well, thanks to listings of the phone from Finnish manufacturers, the last detail has leaked as well, and you might not like what you see. Two online stores in Finland have listed an “HTC One Mini M8” with a price tag of around €520, or around $720, and with a release date of May 13. The HTC One mini 2 is expected to sport the same premium metallic construction as its flagship counterpart, but apart from that it’s clearly a mid-range phone going by leaked specs, which makes that as steep a price as you could imagine. For the same amount of cash, you would be able to grab two Nexus 5’s or even the original HTC One, both of which will be considerably better devices than whatever HTC will throw at us with its next mini handset. Of course, we have to consider the possibility that these listings are simply a result of the retailers trying to capitalize on the interest in the upcoming device, something that isn’t exactly a rare occurrence. But in case the HTC One mini 2 does come out with such an exorbitant price, well, at least we’ll know part of the reason why HTC is hoping to turn a profit next quarter.
