Yesterday’s leak of the LG G5 did not give us a look at the much rumored ‘Magic Slot’ of the device, which led many to doubt its existence. Now, some leaked photos received by Android Authority confirms the presence of the Magic Slot on the handset.

The leaked photos show a huge bump at the rear of the device, which is connected to the ‘Magic Slot’ of the device. It is unclear what the thick module is for, but at least the photos confirm the presence of such a slot. It does not seem to be a battery back since it features a lot of buttons and dials on its edges. What the photos don’t shows us is how the Magic Slot looks like and how they function, though previous rumors have pointed to the whole bottom part of the G5 coming out so that modules can be inserted. The modules for Magic Slot will allow users to extend the functionality of the phone. Some rumored modules that will be available for the handset at launch include an extended battery pack, a camera module and more. LG is likely going to use this Magic Slot to differentiate the LG G5 from the Galaxy S7 and its other competitors. The idea of a Magic Slot on the phone does sound novel and unique, but in the end its success depends on the various modules that will be available for it.
