Though a lot of attention has been diverted to Samsung’s flashy new devices, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, there are bits of information being released for the Galaxy Note 6. Initially there were rumours of an early launch and now, a list with the model numbers of the Note 6 has made its way online.
Codenamed Grace, the list of Galaxy Note 6 model numbers provide us with some surprising information. Firstly, there is a European variant mentioned at the bottom. This confirms Samsung will likely launch the Note 6 in Europe, something which it did not do with the Note 5 to promote the Galaxy S6 edge+. Secondly, there is the same model number for all the major US carrier variants. As was the case with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the company has kept the same model number with all unlocked variants, and with the Note 6, the company is taking things a step further.
The Korean giant is known to have a messy software update policy, with updates rolling out for all variants of the same device. With this new policy of using similar model numbers, Samsung would be able to roll out updates faster and more efficiently. For example, the first major update for the S7 and S7 edge, single and dual-SIM variants, arrived across various regions and around the world within a week. If this list is believed to be accurate, the Galaxy Note 6 will also be available in a dual-SIM variant in some markets. This would add to the list of many rumoured features, including a bigger battery and microSD Card slot. It is also likely to have an IP68 waterproof rating as seen on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
